Aromatherapy FAQ

Aromatherapy FAQ

What is Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy (AROMA + THERAPY) affects both the body and mind.

The molecule of essential oil in contact with the smell receptor nerve endings and to the brain, controls the functions of the body and mind. We think it is essential to feel the “aroma” instinctually and enjoy.

What is an Essential Oil?

Essential oil is a 100% natural volatile aromatic material derived from a flower; leaf, epicarp, roots, resin, and fruit of a plant.

Extraction is achieved through water distillation, mechanical processing, and solvent extraction process (absolute).

The amount of extraction and aroma differ depending on weather, environment and the feature of each plant. Just like farmed vegetables, the aroma from an individual plant may differ every year.

Quite simply, essential oils carry the unique scent or essence of the plant from which they are extracted. They are free from harmful synthetic chemicals and fatty acids.

More importantly, essential oils are the most divine fragrances that can be found on this earth. Oils such as rosewood, lavender, and orange oil all produce an enchanting, natural scent that makes them truly the best ingredients for skincare.

They are also the safest ingredients for cosmetic use, being completely derived from natural substances. As well as being beneficial to the skin, they can even alleviate stress and anxiety!

What is the difference between a Pure Essential Oil and an Aromatherapy Oil?

A pure essential oil is an undiluted oil that has been extracted from flowers, herbs, woods, barks, leaves, roots, grasses, spices, fruits or gum. An aromatherapy oil or fragrance oil has been diluted with a far cheaper carrier oil, usually 2% essential oil in 98% grapeseed oil or almond oil. An aromatherapy oil does not contain the same therapeutic properties of a pure essential oil, they are mainly used to create a pleasant scent. When a pure essential oil is diffused or used in a base, they will have a far greater effect on your mood and wellbeing.

What is a Certified Organic Pure Essential Oil?

Certified Organic means you can trust the origin of the botanical that has been extracted to produce a pure essential oil. The botanical has not been in contact with any chemicals, growth hormones or fertilisers. And no synthetic fragrances have been added.

How to store a Pure Essential Oil?

To keep the fresh aroma of essential oils, we sincerely ask our customer to store properly. An unopened bottle must be stored in a cool dark place and used within 1 year. Citrus essential oils should be used within 6 months.

Can I place a Pure Essential Oil on my skin?

Each essential oil is different and should be treated as such. Some pure essential oils such Tee Tree can be placed directly on the skin, others may cause the skin irritation and redness. It is best to check each individual pure essential oil for application instructions and suggestions. When using a Pure Essential Oil for skin conditions, they are best diluted with a cream or carrier oil.

Can I ingest a Pure Essential Oil?

We recommend that you do not ingest any pure essential oil. Please consult your doctor before ingesting any pure essential oil.

How much Pure Essential Oil should I use?

Less is more and a little bit goes a long way due to the high potency of a pure essential oil. Start by using one to drops and adjust accordingly.
